Students must indicate that they are applying for DMP: Master’s in International Studies on their application and complete the form in their application portal at by the application deadline (Early Decision I: November 1 Early Decision II & Regular Decision: January 3). Other courses may be approved for this area with the approval of the College International Studies Advisor. This five- or six-year program allows selected students an outstanding chance to pursue an intensive undergraduate international studies program with guaranteed enrollment in a two-year master’s degree from SAIS. Courses used for the International Studies Core cannot also count as electives.
Students selected to this Direct Matriculation Program as applicants who maintain the required academic standards are guaranteed admission into the SAIS program, with two options: they can complete the full four years of undergraduate study at the Homewood campus, then go to SAIS to complete their master’s degree in two additional years or, they may choose to complete their undergraduate degree in three years and then complete the master’s at SAIS in two years. Students entering their master’s program at SAIS will have the option of starting in either of these three cities for an immersive and global learning experience. The Johns Hopkins Direct Matriculation Program: Master’s in International Studies allows qualified students displaying a strong interest in international studies to pursue a combined bachelor’s/master’s degree with the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, D.C.
